Blizzard 2008.....uhhhhhh, I don't think so!

"Two to Four inches of snow expected Saturday evening". This was the quote coming from all the news media for at least 5 days prior to what was going to be the big blizzard 2008. I have to be honest and say that I was looking forward to seeing some snow (key word "some"). You have to understand that two to four inches of snow in this particular area of Virginia will close all businesses, schools, pretty much everything.......well with the exception of Wal-Mart. The local news played this up so much that all of the stores were running out of bread and milk because the population of Hampton Roads didn't want to be snowed into their homes overnight by the mass of frozen precipitation headed our way. I decided that I didn't want to caught out on the roads the next morning with any native Virginians since most deal with adverse weather by trying to outrun it.

The scene at the grocery store was almost like it was hurricane season when everybody was looking for a generator or a battery! I spent the same amount of time, if not more, in line at the grocery store as I did shopping. Later on that afternoon the snow started and it was beautiful.......a whole 30 minutes of it hitting the ground and melting instantly due to the earlier rainfall. At the time I was at my friend Laura's house and decided that I should head home......you know, just in case!!!! Later that evening as I headed off to bed I took another peek outside and noticed that there were very light flurries and thought to myself that most of snow will probably fall overnight. The next morning as soon as I woke up I went and peeked between the blinds........nothing! Well, maybe just barely a light, light dusting. I was dissappointed at first but I thought about it and I was thankful that I was able to capture a couple of photos of it snowing outside and Kaiden standing in it for the very first time!!!! ..........cup half full Kelly, not half empty. I've been trying to remind myself of that daily!
