Christmas 2007

Merry Christmas 2007! It truly has been a special year for our family with the addition of Kaiden. It's been quite some time since I last posted and I have made a promise to myself that I need to do this to keep our family and friends posted on what is going on in our lives. I guess I have a little catching up to do! We had a quiet Christmas and New Year Holiday this year. I love the holidays but sometimes it's hard not being able to spend the holidays with family since we have been transplanted to Virginia due to the U.S. Navy. Now with Frank's retirement from the Navy and Kirstie, Shanna and Lindsay entering into their final years of high school we have chose to stay in Virginia.
We went to the local mall several times to see Santa this year. The first time didn't go over too well. Santa was in a hurry with many kids in line to sit on his lap and he grabbed Kaiden to put him on his lap and Kaiden screamed and it echoed througout the mall. I wish I had a device that monitored the decibels at the time. I was certain that he wouldn't want anything to do with Santa for a couple of years! The next week I had to run to the mall to pick up a gift and we went past Santa and Kaiden started to cry. I thought he was frightened at first but I was suprised when I realized he was screaming "See Santa"! There wasn't a line so we went over and Kaiden slowly approached Santa and he allowed Santa to pick him up and put Kaiden on his lap. Of course Santa couldn't understand a thing Kaiden was saying to him (we are working on his speech). Kaiden got a sucker from Santa and was so proud that he sat on Santa's lap.
Christmas morning everybody slept in until almost 8:30 am and Kaiden walked into the living room and his eyes opened wide looking at the lights and all of the presents. Kirstie, Shanna, Lindsay and Kaiden took turns opening gifts and the girls helped Kaiden put together his new Geo Train Track. It was nice having the day together as a family since the girls are older and rarely home between school, friends and work. It was a peaceful Christmas and New Year and I am praying we have the opportunity to see our family in 2008!
